It looks like research is starting to support exercise as a reliable strategy to prevent dementia.

RESEARCH UPDATE

A study of over 1400 women over a 44-year follow up looked at the effect of midlife cardiovascular fitness and the risk of subsequent dementia.

Hörder and colleagues found that a high-fitness level, determined by a maximal ergometer cycling test, delayed age at dementia by 9.5 years, and time to dementia onset by 5 years, when compared with a medium fitness level.

It looks like research is starting to support exercise as a reliable strategy to prevent dementia.
