Experts in these fields will discuss how to address barriers, apply expert recommendations, and more. As this program is intended to be cumulative, it is recommended that you view all 5 sessions in the series.

Deena Kuruvilla, MD, director, Westport Headache Institute, offered her insight into the trends in the clinical care of migraine and the effect that the pandemic has had on patients. Particularly, with this year’s 

 having taken place in June, she spoke to the larger topics of conversation that headache clinicians were focused on while gathered for the meeting.

 NeuroVoices: Michael Dwyer, PhD, on Clinical Impact of AI in Neuroimaging

The director of IT and Neuroinformatics Development at the Buffalo Neuroimaging provided thoughts on artificial intelligence’s role in neuroimaging and treating multiple sclerosis. He also provided context on the work being done at the center, the potential of these AI-based modalities, and ways clinicians can benefit the most from them.

 The Shortage of Neurologists’ Effect on Patient Care: Jennifer Majersik, MD, MS

The division chief of vascular neurology at the University of Utah discussed the driving force behind the national shortage of neurologists and its effect on patient care, positing that neurologists are somewhat “victims of our own success,” due to efforts in identifying effective treatments and the resultant increase in care demands with limited providers to meet them.

 Takeaways From the Second Annual Student Sleep Health Week

Raman Malhotra, MD, president of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, discussed the initiative, which emphasizes the importance of healthy sleep for students, calling for specific attention to the negative implications associated with lack of sleep, which can affect overall health, as well as performance in school and extracurricular activities.

The 3rd Annual International Congress on the Future of Neurology® started TODAY! The virtual meeting, which will showcase the most recent advancements in neurologic disorders, will be held September 17 and 18, 2021. The target audience for this activity is physicians who treat patients with neurologic disorders. Fellows, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care professionals interested in the management of patients with neurologic disorders are also invited to participate.

The learning objectives of the program are:

Outline current and emerging diagnostic concepts for neurologic disorders

Explain clinical evidence for the management of neurologic disorders across multiple lines of care

Summarize the mechanism of action of therapeutic agents used to manage neurologic disorders

Prepare strategies for early recognition and management of treatment-related toxicities associated with neurologic therapies

Patients with multiple sclerosis require care from a comprehensive network of providers, spanning neurologists and physical therapists to psychiatrists and speech therapists. “Managing MS: A Team Approach” is a comprehensive CME/CE broadcast series, moderated by Patricia Bobryk, MHS, PT, MSCS, ATP, that provides expert insight on and review of clinical issues faced by patients with MS. Experts in these fields will discuss how to address barriers, apply expert recommendations, and more. As this program is intended to be cumulative, it is recommended that you view all 5 sessions in the series. 

This activity was designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, nursing professionals, PAs, rehabilitation therapists, mental health professionals, and other members of the healthcare team involved in the management of patients with MS.

Upon completing this activity, participants should be better able to:

Examine the comprehensive care model in MS in the context of the clinician’s own practice setting

Identify members of the comprehensive care team, their unique roles, and the combined contribution of all members in promoting maximal function and wellness in MS

Realistically examine barriers to the implementation of comprehensive care in real-life practice

Evaluate strategies to address barriers to the implementation of a comprehensive care model

Analyze the contribution of rehabilitation professionals in supporting treatment decisions and improving therapy adherence

Apply expert recommendations to the management of real-life case situations
