AMDAPP’s origins began in 2019 when the Parkinson & Movement Disorder Alliance (PMD Alliance) recognized the need for an organized, collective network to ensure there is support for an essential part of the Movement Disorder Care & Support Ecosystem©. As a first step, the APProvider™ Advisory Board was created to build a continuum of services including an online discussion group, APP-specific continuing medical education (CME) courses, and a first-of-its-kind APP Congress.
“I’m thrilled to see what was once just a seed of an idea blossoming into the association it has become today! In reality, more families are living with Parkinson’s and other movement disorders than ever before, and it’s vitally important to have a movement disorder specialist in their community. With AMDAPP, that can now be a reality, and it’s a game-changer for those living with the disease today,” Andrea Merriam, CEO of PMD Alliance , said.
Now, as a stand-alone association, AMDAPP is determined to strengthen the advanced practice providers who utilize a whole-person, patient-centered approach which aligns with the values and philosophies set in place from its beginnings with PMD Alliance. This synergistic relationship will inform, empower, and enrich APPs & their patients for years to come.
We Envision...
- A care team that fully integrates, recognizes, and celebrates the unique offerings and expertise of each care team member.
- An integrated network consisting exclusively of APPs able to share resources, information and work collaboratively to enhance the lives of people they each serve that are impacted by movement and related disorders.
- A field of APPs fully trained, with ongoing education, ensuring the highest level of skill and competency.
“This association is for YOU! For APPs! It is an association where you belong, providing a home amongst your peers who work alongside you in the complex journey of treating and managing movement disorders," Kelly Papesh , DNP-C, MSN, AMDAPP Executive Director said.
