Give the Gift of Life: Donate Blood

The virtual MJH Life Sciences Sleeves Up Blood Drive, put on by NeurologyLive®'s parent company, will be held from March 31 through April 30, 2022.

The NeurologyLive® team is happy to announce that our parent company, MJH Life Sciences, is hosting the virtual MJH Life Sciences Sleeves Up Blood Drive from March 31, 2022, through April 30, 2022.

Some quick facts about the importance of blood donation include:

  • The average red blood cell transfusion is 3 pints of blood, and just this single donation of blood can save up to 3 lives.
  • Millions of donations are needed every year, and in the United States, more than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day to keep up with demand.
  • Two types of donations—whole blood Type O-negative and Type AB plasma—are in short supply (in part because of its rarity in the case of Type O-negative) but their utility is vast, as both can be transfused to individuals with other blood types.

But, and perhaps most importantly, despite the fact that about 38% of the American population is eligible to give blood according to Red Cross eligibility criteria, only 2% of people actually donate.1,2

Companies or groups interested in hosting virtual drives can go to: Those who would like to donate can download the American Red Cross Blood Donor app.

Then please spread the word on social media that people can help the American Red Cross continue to deliver its lifesaving mission nationwide because of this public health emergency by texting REDCROSS to #90999 to make a $10 donation, visiting, or calling 1-800-REDCROSS to donate.
